The various Splits from The Original Structure of
The Moorish Science Temple of America

Many Moorish divisions have come about as a result of the original M.S.T. of A., but only three major portions (schools of thought) which made up the Moorish States (Grand Bodies) of the original M.S.T. of A. were established.

1. SHEIK EDWARD MEALY EL. The first Supreme Grand Sheik of the M.S.T. of A. Appointed to said office by the Holy Prophet himself and was never removed by the Holy Prophet. The only one whom the Holy Prophet trusted to carry out that post. The Prophet never had voting within The Moorish Science Temple of America.

2. BRO. C. KIRKMAN BEY. The first to actually be seated within the adept chamber of 1929 as the Supreme Grand Adviser who finally set up his Temple in 1934 under an entirely new set of Rules and Regulation not being of Prophet Drew Ali. The title and position of Supreme Grand Adviser would later be revoked during the MSTA annual convention of 1930. C. Kirkman-Bey was never made a Sheik during the lifetime of Prophet Drew Ali. Voting was introduced within the M.S.T.of A.Inc by C. Kirkman Bey and still remains effective today.

3. BRO. JOHN GIVENS EL. Whom later became known as the Reincarnated Prophet; who also finally set up his Temple in 1934. Other Temple groups rose for a moment but then later fell off.

NOTE: Several current mainstream Moorish American groups are but schism organizations that do not function under the original organizational structure established by Prophet Drew Ali in the year of 1928.

Having a great difference of opinion conflict arose between Bro. Charles Kirkman Bey and Bro. Edward Mealy El’s portions. E. Mealy El’s portion would later become dormant because of his wife’s covert actions to take over the movement which was later exposed.
